REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR THE TOWN OF LA VETA

The following is a reminder of some of the Municipal Election Laws and due dates for the Town of La Veta Municipal Election that will be held on April 5, 2022. Any questions contact the Town Clerk.

·         January 4, 2022-Nominating Petitions can be picked up from the Town Clerk at the Town Hall, 209 S. Main Street, La Veta, Colorado

·         January 5, 2022-First day to request an Absentee Ballot

·         January 24, 2022- Nominating Petitions due to Town Clerk by 5:00 p.m.

·         February 1, 2022-Last day to cure Petitions

·         February 1, 2022-Last day to withdraw Nominating Petition

·         March 14,2022- Last day to move into the Town limits of La Veta and be eligible to vote

·         March 14,2022- Last day to move into the State of Colorado and be eligible to vote

·         March 14,2022-Last day to change your address and be eligible to vote

·         April 1, 2022-Last day to file applications for Absentee Ballots

·         April 5, 2022-Election Day-Polling Place, La Veta Community Center

If you wish to run for office of Town Board of Trustee or Mayor, you must have the following qualifications:

·         Must be (18) eighteen years of age

·         Must be a citizen of the United States

·         Must have lived in the Town Limits of La Veta for (12) twelve consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election

·         The Election Official with determine eligibility to run for office by the above qualifications and verification in the voter registration book.  

When signing a nominating petition, the following apply:

·         No registered Elector shall sign more than (1) one nomination petition for each separate office to be filled.

·         All petitions must have signatures of at least (10) ten registered electors residing within the town limits of La Veta. The Election Official will verify all signatures for accuracy.

·         All signatures must be exactly as you are registered to vote.  Verification of how you are registered to vote can be obtained from the County Clerk.

·         Make sure any name changes or address changes have been made (22) days prior to the election with the County Clerk.

In order to be eligible to VOTE in the Regular Municipal Election on April 5, 2022 you must have the following qualifications:

·         Must have resided in the State of Colorado and the town limits of the Town of La Veta (22) twenty two days prior to the Municipal Election.

·         The town limits of La Veta must be your principal and primary residence.

·         Must be (18) eighteen years of age

·         Must be a citizen of the United States
