NOTICE OF CANCELLATION OF THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION
FOR THE TOWN OF LA VETA, COLORADO
The Town of La Veta regular Municipal Election scheduled for April 7, 2026, has been cancelled.
As per C.R.S. § 31-10-507, if the only matter before the voters is the election of persons to office and if, at the close of business on the sixty-fourth day before the election, there are not more candidates than offices to be filled at such election, including candidates filing Affidavits of Intent, the clerk, if instructed by resolution of the governing body either before or after such date, shall cancel the election and by resolution declare the candidates elected.
In the case of the April 7, 2026 Municipal Election, the Town Clerk received petitions for the following offices. The La Veta Town Board of Trustees has approved a resolution cancelling the Town of La Veta Municipal Election and declaring the following candidates elected: Douglas R. Brgoch, Mayor 2-year term; Derek Sokoloski, Trustee 4-year term; Mickey Schmidt, Trustee 4 -year term.
